All Socium Power Consultants project managers work with our customer’s planning and development personnel to gain a thorough understanding of the project’s scope. SPC project managers have proven track records performing vendor forecasting, accrual accounting, and financial reporting of monthly variances by utilizing earned value methodology to calculate cost performance index (CPI) and schedule performance index (SPI) with the sole purpose of eliminating “surprises” and enabling clients to benefit from greater financial predictability.
At Socium Power Consultants, we take a toll gate approach to project management. After the project initiation phase, SPC manages the engineering, permitting and procurement of equipment and construction services. SPC works closely with the testing and commissioning engineering to validate the accuracy and completeness of outages, ultimately leading to project close out and turn-over to operations.
Transmission Structure/Cell Tower Inspections
At Socium Power we conduct regular surveys of substations, transmission lines, and cell towers, using thermal imaging devices, provides you a full picture of potential problems and therefore take corrective action prior to failure.

All Socium Power Consultants’ pilots are federally certified by the United States’ Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Per the FAA’s Small UAS Rule, Part 107, every SPC pilot has obtained a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA and demonstrates that they understand the regulations, operating requirements, and procedures for safely flying drones.
SPC pilots also adhere to individual client’s protocol when flying on premises, or around our client’s infrastructure.
Conducting regular surveys of substations, transmission lines, and cell towers, using thermal imaging devices, can give customers a full picture of potential problems and therefore take corrective action prior to failure.
SPC can measure temperature from a safe distance with the highest accuracy and see connections with stunning image clarity, allowing electric utility companies to see component detail and find hidden problems before they lead to costly system failures or shutdowns.

Michael J. Bailey MBA, PMP //
Michael Bailey is an accomplished, certified professional project manager and brings his clients over fifteen years of utility expertise and an exceptional capability in all aspects of conceptual substation design, issue for construction packages, system protection and control packages, project status reports as well as presentation to General Managers and C-Suite stakeholders.
Michael possesses an excellent command of forecasting, accrual accounting, and financial reporting of monthly variances by utilizing earned value methodology to calculate CPI and SPI with the goal of eliminating “surprises” and enabling clients to benefit from greater financial predictability.
Michael has extensive experience delivering multifaceted substation projects with high community visibility in major metropolitan locations such as Chicago, Baltimore, Washington, D.C. as well as Rochester, NY and Reading, PA.
Michael Bailey earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Swanson School of Engineering – University of Pittsburgh then he earned his Executive Master’s in Business Administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business – University of Maryland.
Clients value Michael’s experience as a substation engineering project manager and the perspective he brings during the early development phase of site planning, substation layout, substation one-line conceptual design, as well as transmission line locations, laydown areas, access roads, wetland concerns, and permitting needs.
